When we learn about the history and culture of a nation, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world. We also learn about the values and beliefs of the people living in that country. We begin to see ourselves as part of a larger group.

We start to care about the welfare of those around us. We want to contribute to the common good. We want to live in a place where everyone feels safe and secure.

We want to live somewhere where we can trust the government.

We want to live where we can express our opinions freely without fear of persecution. These are examples of solidarity citizenship.

Solidarity citizenship is based on the belief that we are all equal, and that we share responsibilities for the wellbeing of the whole community. It is based on the principle that we are all in this together.

Solidarity citizenship is concerned with building strong communities. It encourages people to participate in local politics, and it helps them to engage with their neighbours. It promotes civic participation, and it encourages people to volunteer.

It builds stronger relationships between people. It creates opportunities for people to meet and interact with each other. It develops friendships and networks.

It strengthens ties between families and friends. It brings people closer together.
